                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the State
 1-2     of Texas, 77th Legislature, Regular Session, 2001, That House Rule
 1-3     13, Section 9(a), be suspended in part as provided by House Rule
 1-4     13, Section 9(f), to enable the conference committee appointed to
 1-5     resolve the differences on House Bill No. 900, relating to the
 1-6     administration of statutory probate courts and to the assignment of
 1-7     statutory probate judges, to consider and take action on the
 1-8     following matters:
 1-9           House Rule 13, Section 9(a)(4), is suspended to permit the
1-10     committee to add new sections to the bill to read as follows:
1-11           SECTION 1. Section 24.534, Government Code, is amended to
1-12     read as follows:
1-13           Sec. 24.534.  389TH JUDICIAL DISTRICT (HIDALGO COUNTY). [(a)]
1-14     The 389th Judicial District is composed of Hidalgo County.
1-15           [(b)  The 389th District Court shall give preference to
1-16     criminal matters.]
1-17           SECTION 2. Section 24.543, Government Code, is amended to
1-18     read as follows:
1-19           Sec. 24.543.  398TH JUDICIAL DISTRICT (HIDALGO COUNTY). [(a)]
1-20     The 398th Judicial District is composed of Hidalgo County.
1-21           [(b)  The 398th District Court shall give preference to
1-22     family violence and criminal matters.]
1-23           House Rule 13, Section 9(a)(1), is suspended to permit the
1-24     committee to amend the text of the effective date section of the
 2-1     bill to read as follows:
 2-2           (a)  Except as provided by Subsection (b) of this section,
 2-3     this Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
 2-4           (b)  Sections 1 and 2 of this Act take effect January 1,
 2-5     2003.
 2-6           Explanation: These changes are necessary to repeal the matter
 2-7     preferences of certain district courts on January 1, 2003.
