R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The untimely passing of Francisco "Kiko" Garcia of
 1-2     Lajitas on May 6, 2001, at the age of 45, has brought a profound
 1-3     sense of loss to the family and friends of this notable Texan; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, Born in Escalon, Mexico, Mr. Garcia was a descendent
 1-5     of revolutionary hero Manuel Benavides, for whom the village of San
 1-6     Carlos was renamed after the Mexican Revolution; when he was 15, he
 1-7     joined a circus and toured Mexico as a trapeze artist before coming
 1-8     to the United States; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, After working at Terlingua Ranch, Mr. Garcia became
1-10     a greenskeeper for the Lajitas Golf Course in 1982 and ultimately
1-11     rose to the position of superintendent; and
1-12           WHEREAS, He and his wife, Linda, also operated San Carlos
1-13     Excursions for many years and enjoyed taking Big Bend visitors to
1-14     San Carlos for tours, hiking, and other activities; and
1-15           WHEREAS, Beloved for his genial, gregarious personality, Kiko
1-16     Garcia lit up the world around him with his laughter, and his
1-17     spirit will long live on in the hearts of those whose lives he so
1-18     deeply touched; now, therefore, be it
1-19           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
1-20     Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Francisco "Kiko"
1-21     Garcia and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family:
1-22     to his wife, Linda Garcia; to his sons, Javier and Carl Garcia; to
1-23     his mother, Edwiges Garcia Benavides; to his daughters, Nansy
1-24     Haidee Garcia and Ana Irene Garcia; to his brothers, Jorge Garcia,
 2-1     Vidal Garcia, Cruz Garcia, and Cruzine Garcia; to his sisters,
 2-2     Esperanza Lujan, Rita Gachuz, Socorro "Choco" Salgado, Yadira
 2-3     Garcia, Carolina Payan, Anna Maria Hernandez, and Sylvia Benavides;
 2-4     to his 30 nieces and nephews; and to his other relatives and many
 2-5     friends; and, be it further
 2-6           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-7     prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas
 2-8     House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
 2-9     Francisco "Kiko" Garcia.
