                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, Lianna Flores has been selected Indian Sweetheart of
 1-2     Donna High School, and she is indeed deserving of special
 1-3     recognition at this time; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, Originated in 1934 by several female students as a
 1-5     fund-raiser, the Indian Sweetheart tradition continues today to
 1-6     bring together students and their families and friends during the
 1-7     football season; and
 1-8           WHEREAS, A junior, Ms. Flores was presented as the 67th
 1-9     Indian Sweetheart of Donna High School during an awards ceremony on
1-10     May 14; she will be officially introduced at the first home
1-11     football game of the season in September and will cheer the team on
1-12     while wearing the beaded armband and legband she will craft this
1-13     summer; and
1-14           WHEREAS, Ms. Flores participates in the student council and
1-15     the drama department and is a member of the National Honor Society
1-16     and the volleyball and soccer teams; a cheerleader for three years,
1-17     she has been on the varsity squad for the past two years and served
1-18     as co-head cheerleader this year; and
1-19           WHEREAS, This fine young Texan has demonstrated leadership,
1-20     dedication, and discipline, and she is an outstanding role model
1-21     for her fellow students; now, therefore, be it
1-22           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
1-23     Legislature hereby congratulate Lianna Flores on being named Indian
1-24     Sweetheart of Donna High School and extend to her best wishes for
 2-1     good fortune and fulfillment in the future; and, be it further
 2-2           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-3     prepared for Ms. Flores as an expression of high regard by the
 2-4     Texas House of Representatives.
