R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The City of Katy is receiving the Governor's
 1-2     Community Achievement Award by Keep Texas Beautiful, Inc. (KTB),
 1-3     and this distinct honor truly warrants special praise; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, One of only nine communities to be given an award,
 1-5     the City of Katy is being recognized at the 34th Annual Keep Texas
 1-6     Beautiful Convention in Fort Worth from June 26 to 29, 2001, and
 1-7     will share in $1 million in landscaping prizes from the Texas
 1-8     Department of Transportation for excellence in community
 1-9     environmental programming; and
1-10           WHEREAS, Keep Katy Beautiful (KKB), an affiliate of KTB, has
1-11     experienced an outstanding year of successful projects with the
1-12     invaluable support of volunteer citizens, the City of Katy, local
1-13     businesses and civic organizations, the Katy Times, and the Katy
1-14     Independent School District; and
1-15           WHEREAS, In addition to actively participating in 32 events
1-16     focusing on litter prevention, KKB has hosted numerous
1-17     beautification and property improvement projects, impressive
1-18     recycling and solid waste management initiatives, and environmental
1-19     education programs for local youths; and
1-20           WHEREAS, Such a prestigious award highlights the wonderful
1-21     dedication, hard work, and civic pride exemplified by the citizens
1-22     of beautiful Katy, all of whom richly deserve the highest
1-23     commendation; now, therefore, be it
1-24           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
 2-1     Legislature hereby congratulate the City of Katy on its receipt of
 2-2     the Governor's Community Achievement Award and extend to each of
 2-3     its fine citizens sincerest gratitude for helping to keep the Lone
 2-4     Star State beautiful; and, be it further
 2-5           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-6     prepared for the City of Katy as an expression of high regard by
 2-7     the Texas House of Representatives.
