                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, Residents of Wichita Falls recently lost a beloved
 1-2     friend, neighbor, and local icon with the passing of Warren Silver
 1-3     on May 22, 2001, at the age of 75; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, A native of Oklahoma, Mr. Silver was born in Mustang
 1-5     on August 26, 1925, and graduated from the University of Oklahoma
 1-6     in 1948; that same year, he embarked on a career in broadcasting
 1-7     that would span more than five decades, all spent at KFDX in
 1-8     Wichita Falls; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, In April 1958, this esteemed gentleman became the
1-10     first weatherman at KFDX-TV and earned a place in the hearts of
1-11     men, women, and children across the state with his easy smile and
1-12     unwavering professionalism; having helped to set the standard for
1-13     televised weather forecasting in Wichita Falls, Mr. Silver enjoyed
1-14     a long and distinguished tenure with the company that included
1-15     positions in sales, operations, and general management before his
1-16     retirement in 1990; and
1-17           WHEREAS, The host of "The Silver Report" and spokesman for
1-18     the Rolling Meadows Retirement Community, he remained active in the
1-19     broadcasting industry well past the official conclusion of his
1-20     career; in addition, he was a dedicated community leader, serving
1-21     on the boards of the Wichita Falls Independent School District, the
1-22     Boy Scouts of America, the Salvation Army, and the advisory boards
1-23     for Texas Tech University's Mass Communications Department and the
1-24     American Red Cross; and
 2-1           WHEREAS, A Sunday school teacher for 45 years, Mr. Silver was
 2-2     a man of tremendous faith and a devoted family man, and while he
 2-3     will be greatly missed, his legacy of kindness, integrity, and
 2-4     civic involvement will not soon be forgotten; now, therefore, be it
 2-5           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
 2-6     Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Warren Silver and
 2-7     extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife,
 2-8     Lynn; to his daughters, Shelley Peters and Lori Michel; to his
 2-9     grandchildren, Danielle Peters and Bryan and Kristina Yocham; to
2-10     his brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Maurine Silver; and to
2-11     his other relatives and many friends; and, be it further
2-12           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-13     prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
2-14     Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Warren
2-15     Silver.
