R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The passing of Vaughn "Buz" Coffman of Wichita Falls
 1-2     on May 23, 2001, at the age of 73, has brought a profound loss to
 1-3     the family and friends of this esteemed Texan; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, Born July 1, 1927, Mr. Coffman proudly served in the
 1-5     U.S. Air Force as a young man; on January 15, 1950, he married
 1-6     Betty Malone, with whom he shared a warm and devoted union for more
 1-7     than 50 years; and
 1-8           WHEREAS, This longtime resident of Wichita Falls was a valued
 1-9     member of the First Presbyterian Church, where he held the
1-10     positions of elder and trustee; he also gave his time and energy to
1-11     the Disabled American Veterans, serving as state commander, and to
1-12     the Parent Teachers Association, of which he was a life member; and
1-13           WHEREAS, Mr. Coffman further benefited his local area through
1-14     his involvement  in the Boy Scouts of America, receiving for his
1-15     deep commitment the Silver Beaver Award and the God and Service
1-16     Award; moreover, this gentleman created and implemented a scouting
1-17     program for the mentally handicapped; and
1-18           WHEREAS, Known for his acts of charity and dedication to the
1-19     betterment of his city, Mr. Coffman will undoubtedly be remembered
1-20     with fondness and gratitude by the countless individuals whose
1-21     lives he touched; now, therefore, be it
1-22           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
1-23     Legislature honor the life of Vaughn "Buz" Coffman and extend
1-24     sincere sympathy to the members of his family:  to his wife, Betty;
 2-1     to his daughter, Bee Lynn Rippy, and her husband, Vernon; to his
 2-2     son, Vaughn Z. Coffman; to his brother, Marlon Coffman; to his
 2-3     cousin, Mrs. Oliver Howard, Jr.; and to his other relatives and
 2-4     many friends; and, be it further
 2-5           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-6     prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas
 2-7     House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
 2-8     Vaughn "Buz" Coffman.
