No. 1397 77R18114 MW-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The family and friends of Maria Minicucci of Houston 1-2 were profoundly saddened by the untimely passing of this esteemed 1-3 lady on May 15, 2001, at the age of 50; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Born August 15, 1950, Ms. Minicucci received her 1-5 master's degree in psychology and women's studies from Goddard 1-6 College and later earned her doctorate in psychology; and 1-7 WHEREAS, She came to Houston in 1996 and taught psychology at 1-8 Houston Community College's Stafford campus; she also was a 1-9 respected contributing writer for the Houston Voice; and 1-10 WHEREAS, Deeply involved in making her community a better 1-11 place, this highly regarded activist served as president of the 1-12 Houston Lesbian and Gay Community Center, which she was credited 1-13 with revitalizing; and 1-14 WHEREAS, An intelligent and talented individual with a fine 1-15 wit and serious-minded commitment to her community, Ms. Minicucci 1-16 is deeply missed, but undoubtedly she will live on in the hearts of 1-17 the many people whose lives she touched; now, therefore, be it 1-18 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 1-19 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Maria Minicucci and 1-20 extend sincerest sympathy to her partner, Deb Murphy, and to her 1-21 mother; and, be it further 1-22 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 1-23 prepared for the members of her family and that when the Texas 1-24 House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of 2-1 Maria Minicucci.
