No. 1415 77R17750 MJS-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Hays Rage boys soccer team captured the state 1-2 championship of the 2001 South Texas Cup, and this outstanding team 1-3 accomplishment merits special legislative recognition; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Under the astute guidance of coach Ellie Warmington, 1-5 Hays took first place in the Capital Area Youth Soccer Association 1-6 Division II Tournament and garnered four victories and one tie 1-7 during the regular season to win the Western Division championship 1-8 and advance to the state playoffs; and 1-9 WHEREAS, In the South Texas Cup competition held on May 5 and 1-10 6, 2001, in Katy, Hays compiled an unblemished 3-0 record and 1-11 outscored its opponents by a combined total of 17-3 to earn the 1-12 state title; and 1-13 WHEREAS, The superb season would not have been possible 1-14 without the valuable contributions of all of the talented team 1-15 members, including Derek Barker, Todd Brown, William Caldwell, Sean 1-16 Des Rochers, Michael Franks, Daniel Hernandez, Trey Lovell, William 1-17 Manella, Adrian Muzquiz, Dustin Parker, Shane Patteson, Eduardo 1-18 Rodriguez, David Rudzinski, Ali Sepehri, and T. J. Warmington; 1-19 additional assistance came from Art Lopez; and 1-20 WHEREAS, Made up of 15- and 16-year-old boys from the Hays 1-21 County area, the Rage's players came together to meet a common 1-22 goal; as they take justifiable pride and satisfaction in their 1-23 state championship, it is indeed most appropriate to pay tribute to 1-24 them; now, therefore, be it 2-1 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 2-2 Legislature hereby congratulate the Hays Rage boys soccer team on 2-3 becoming the 2001 South Texas Cup champions and extend to them 2-4 sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further 2-5 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-6 prepared for the team members as an expression of high regard by 2-7 the Texas House of Representatives.
