R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, Corporal William Crawford Kyle, Jr., of Austin,
1-2 passed away on January 30, 1970, at the age of 44, and while his
1-3 time here was far too brief, his life had a profound effect on
1-4 those around him; and
1-5 WHEREAS, Born November 26, 1925, in Austin, Corporal Kyle
1-6 proudly served his country in the 4th Division of the U.S. Marine
1-7 Corps; during World War II, he fought in the Marshall Islands on
1-8 Roi Namur, Saipan, Tinian, and Iwo Jima, where he was wounded; and
1-9 WHEREAS, Following the war, he married the former Frances
1-10 Lanear Daugherty on March 4, 1949; the couple shared a joyous union
1-11 that was blessed with many happy times and a close-knit and loving
1-12 family; and
1-13 WHEREAS, On July 20, 1956, Corporal Kyle was ordained as a
1-14 Primitive Baptist preacher; he was also a gifted musician with a
1-15 beautiful singing voice, and he shared his love of music and his
1-16 deep faith with his children and many others; and
1-17 WHEREAS, A courageous marine and beloved family man, Corporal
1-18 William Crawford Kyle, Jr., continues to live on in the hearts and
1-19 minds of the many people whose lives he so deeply touched; now,
1-20 therefore, be it
1-21 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
1-22 Legislature hereby join the family and friends of Corporal William
1-23 Crawford Kyle, Jr., in paying tribute to his memory; and, be it
1-24 further
2-1 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-2 prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas
2-3 House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
2-4 Corporal William Crawford Kyle, Jr.
