R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives takes pride in
 1-2     honoring the Eastfield College Harvester baseball team on winning
 1-3     the 2001 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA)
 1-4     Division III national championship; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, Defending their number one ranking at the NJCAA
 1-6     World Series in Batavia, New York, the Harvesters overcame all
 1-7     opposition, defeating teams from New York, New Jersey, and Ohio to
 1-8     claim the championship trophy; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, In recognition of their performances, several
1-10     Eastfield College players were chosen for the all-tournament team,
1-11     including most valuable player Chris Meeks, Tim Collinsworth,
1-12     Justin Hatcher, and Sean McKnight; and
1-13           WHEREAS, The team also benefited from superior coaching, both
1-14     in the tournament and throughout the 2001 campaign, and for his
1-15     efforts, head coach Jeff Lightfoot garnered coach of the tournament
1-16     distinction; and
1-17           WHEREAS, These talented and dedicated athletes have brought
1-18     great honor to Eastfield College and they are most deserving of
1-19     special legislative recognition at this time; now, therefore, be it
1-20           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
1-21     Legislature hereby congratulate the Eastfield College Harvester
1-22     baseball team on winning the 2001 NJCAA Division III national
1-23     title; and, be it further
1-24           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-1     prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 2-2     House of Representatives.
