No. 1422 77R17855 JKB-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The members of the Texas House of Representatives 1-2 join with the Timberline Elementary School community in celebrating 1-3 that institution's recent designation as a National Blue Ribbon 1-4 School by the United States Department of Education; and 1-5 WHEREAS, This prestigious honor is awarded to those schools 1-6 that model excellence and equity by offering instructional programs 1-7 that meet the highest academic standards, by fostering a supportive 1-8 and learning-centered environment, and by posting student outcome 1-9 results that are significantly above the average for comparable 1-10 schools; and 1-11 WHEREAS, Part of the Grapevine-Colleyville Independent School 1-12 District, Timberline Elementary School is one of only 35 elementary 1-13 schools in the state to achieve this national distinction; and 1-14 WHEREAS, Under the astute leadership of principal Sandee 1-15 Williams, the school offers such innovative activities as the Math 1-16 Challenge Club, the Junior Gardening Club, Fit Feet Physical 1-17 Fitness, Odyssey of the Mind, and the KTIM Morning News television 1-18 program, which is written and produced by students; in addition, 1-19 the school will soon feature a student-operated banking program; 1-20 and 1-21 WHEREAS, Timberline Elementary School benefits from a 1-22 hardworking PTA and strong volunteer support and is most assuredly 1-23 helping each child in its charge receive a quality education and 1-24 the opportunity to grow academically, socially, and physically 2-1 within the caring environment it provides; now, therefore, be it 2-2 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 2-3 Legislature hereby congratulate all those associated with 2-4 Timberline Elementary School on its receipt of a National Blue 2-5 Ribbon School award and commend them on their unwavering commitment 2-6 to excellence in education; and, be it further 2-7 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-8 prepared for Timberline Elementary School as an expression of high 2-9 regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
