No. 1425 77R17854 JKB-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Birdville Elementary School community is 1-2 justifiably proud of the institution's recent designation as a 1-3 National Blue Ribbon School by the United States Department of 1-4 Education; and 1-5 WHEREAS, This prestigious honor is awarded to those schools 1-6 that model excellence and equity by offering instructional programs 1-7 that meet the highest academic standards, have supportive and 1-8 learning-centered environments, and demonstrate student outcome 1-9 results that are significantly above the average for comparable 1-10 schools; and 1-11 WHEREAS, Located in the Grapevine-Colleyville Independent 1-12 School District, Birdville Elementary School is one of only 35 1-13 schools in the state to achieve this national distinction, and it 1-14 has also been honored as a Texas Blue Ribbon School; and 1-15 WHEREAS, Under the astute leadership of principal Marta 1-16 White, the school offers such innovative activities as the 10K 1-17 Club, Battle of the Books, KIDZ Channel 72 News, Future Kids, the 1-18 Leadership Club, Student Ambassadors, and the Dino Steps to Reading 1-19 program; and 1-20 WHEREAS, Birdville Elementary School strives to teach 1-21 students the skills they will need to lead successful lives as 1-22 citizens of the 21st century, and its receipt of this award is 1-23 fitting testimony to its proven record of achievement; now, 1-24 therefore, be it 2-1 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 2-2 Legislature hereby congratulate all those associated with Birdville 2-3 Elementary School on receiving the National Blue Ribbon School 2-4 award and commend them on their unwavering commitment to promoting 2-5 excellence in education; and, be it further 2-6 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-7 prepared for prominent display at Birdville Elementary School as an 2-8 expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
