No. 1430 77R18212 JKB-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Alene Shawnte Riley has been an outstanding 1-2 legislative intern in the Capitol office of State Representative 1-3 Glenn O. Lewis, and her hard work and dedication during this 77th 1-4 Regular Session have been important assets to Representative Lewis 1-5 and to the constituents of House District 95; and 1-6 WHEREAS, Ms. Riley graduated from Prairie View A&M University 1-7 Summa Cum Laude in 2000; she has served as campaign coordinator for 1-8 a state legislative race in North Carolina, been president of her 1-9 university's Student Government Association, and participated in 1-10 summer programs in Tanzania and Israel, where she studied the 1-11 cultures of each area and taught classes in English, American 1-12 history, and politics; and 1-13 WHEREAS, This outstanding leader is also a Public Policy and 1-14 International Affair (Woodrow Wilson) Fellow, a member of the Pi 1-15 Sigma Alpha National Political Science Honor Society, a 1-16 Congressional Black Caucus Scholar, and the recipient of the Future 1-17 African American Leadership Award presented by the Texas Black 1-18 Legislative Caucus; she has demonstrated a tremendous commitment to 1-19 her fellowman, and the knowledge and insight she has gained into 1-20 the workings of state government will assuredly serve her well in 1-21 all of her future endeavors; and 1-22 WHEREAS, With the Regular Session of the 77th Legislature 1-23 drawing to a close, it is most appropriate to honor the significant 1-24 efforts of Ms. Riley and to express appreciation for her notable 2-1 work; now, therefore, be it 2-2 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 2-3 Legislature hereby commend Alene Shawnte Riley on her tenure as an 2-4 intern in the Capitol office of State Representative Glenn O. Lewis 2-5 and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success and 2-6 happiness; and, be it further 2-7 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-8 prepared for Ms. Riley as an expression of high regard by the Texas 2-9 House of Representatives.
