No. 1437 77R17885 MW-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, It is truly fitting to honor Enriqueta "Queta" G. 1-2 Fierro of El Paso for her commitment to the El Paso County 1-3 Democratic Party and her community; and 1-4 WHEREAS, A native of El Paso, Mrs. Fierro was a congressional 1-5 staff member for 15 years and protocol coordinator at Fort Bliss 1-6 for a decade; and 1-7 WHEREAS, Since 1964, Mrs. Fierro has performed volunteer work 1-8 regularly, giving between 10 and 45 hours a week, and she has been 1-9 a member of the Muscular Dystrophy Association Board, El Paso 1-10 Community Foundation Advisory Board, Hispanic Leadership Institute, 1-11 and El Paso Children's Day Care Center Board, among many others; 1-12 and 1-13 WHEREAS, Also active in the League of United Latin American 1-14 Citizens (LULAC) at the local, state, and national levels, she has 1-15 served in numerous capacities in LULAC Council #335 and was also 1-16 office supervisor and volunteer in the national office of LULAC; 1-17 and 1-18 WHEREAS, Mrs. Fierro has been duly recognized as the LULAC 1-19 Council #335 Outstanding Officer, El Paso Times' "Woman of the 1-20 World," Nosotros magazine's "Celebrity," and an Outstanding LULAC 1-21 Council member; and 1-22 WHEREAS, An immeasurably positive influence on the people 1-23 around her, this esteemed Texan has benefited her community in 1-24 countless ways, and she is truly an inspirational person; now, 2-1 therefore, be it 2-2 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 2-3 Legislature hereby commend Enriqueta "Queta" G. Fierro for her 2-4 service to the citizens of El Paso and the Democratic Party and 2-5 extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success and 2-6 happiness; and, be it further 2-7 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-8 prepared for Mrs. Fierro as an expression of high regard by the 2-9 Texas House of Representatives.
