R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The members of the Texas House of Representatives
 1-2     join with the James Bowie Elementary School community in
 1-3     celebrating the institution's recent designation as a National Blue
 1-4     Ribbon School by the United States Department of Education; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, This prestigious honor is awarded to those schools
 1-6     that model excellence and equity by offering instructional programs
 1-7     that meet the highest academic standards, have supportive and
 1-8     learning-centered environments, and demonstrate student outcome
 1-9     results that are significantly above the average for comparable
1-10     schools; and
1-11           WHEREAS, Located in the Richardson Independent School
1-12     District, James Bowie Elementary School is one of only 35 Texas
1-13     schools to achieve this national distinction, and it has also been
1-14     honored as an exemplary school by the Texas Education Agency for
1-15     the past six years based on its TAAS tests scores and earned a
1-16     four-star rating by Texas Monthly magazine for being among the best
1-17     elementary schools in the state; and
1-18           WHEREAS, Under the astute leadership of principal Jan Casner,
1-19     the school was recognized for its innovative curriculum,
1-20     state-of-the-art greenhouse and nature studies, positive learning
1-21     environment, and commitment to academic excellence, all of which
1-22     were achieved as a result of the dedication, hard work, and
1-23     collaborative efforts of Bowie staff, students, and parents and the
1-24     school's community; now, therefore, be it
 2-1           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
 2-2     Legislature hereby congratulate all those associated with James
 2-3     Bowie Elementary School on receiving a National Blue Ribbon School
 2-4     award and commend them on their unwavering commitment to promoting
 2-5     excellence in education; and, be it further
 2-6           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-7     prepared for prominent display at James Bowie Elementary School as
 2-8     an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
