R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, Head football coach Larry Dippel of Amarillo High
 1-2     School has successfully led his school's team for a quarter-century
 1-3     and his exceptional efforts in that regard truly merit special
 1-4     commendation; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, Since becoming head coach of the Sandies in 1975,
 1-6     this exemplary teacher and motivator has compiled a superb record
 1-7     of 193-94-5 and his teams have captured a dozen district titles;
 1-8     and
 1-9           WHEREAS, The winningest coach in the history of the school,
1-10     Coach Dippel has made Amarillo High School a fixture in post-season
1-11     gridiron play, having reached the semi-final game once, the
1-12     quarter-finals four times, and the regionals on four occasions; and
1-13           WHEREAS, Before coming to Amarillo High School, he honed his
1-14     coaching skills as an assistant coach at Corpus Christi Carroll
1-15     High School, Victoria High School, Stamford High School, and
1-16     Hereford High School, where he was also a head coach; and
1-17           WHEREAS, In recognition of his accomplishments Coach Dippel
1-18     has been the recipient of the Tom Landry Award, has been selected
1-19     as one of the top 100 sports legends of the 20th century in the
1-20     Panhandle, and has been named district coach of the year on several
1-21     occasions; further, he is an inductee of the Texas High School
1-22     Coaches' Hall of Honor and the Panhandle Sports Hall of Fame; a man
1-23     who has given much to his profession, he is also a former president
1-24     of the Texas High School Coaches' Association; and
 2-1           WHEREAS, Throughout the course of his outstanding career,
 2-2     Coach Dippel has set standards of excellence for himself and his
 2-3     players to which all can aspire and it is indeed appropriate that
 2-4     he be honored at this time; now, therefore, be it
 2-5           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
 2-6     Legislature hereby congratulate Coach Larry Dippel on his
 2-7     remarkable achievements and extend to him sincere best wishes for
 2-8     continued success; and, be it further
 2-9           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-10     prepared for Coach Dippel as an expression of high regard by the
2-11     Texas House of Representatives.
