1-10 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
1-11 AN ACT
1-12 relating to the application fee for a disabled parking placard.
1-13 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-14 SECTION 1. Subsection (b), Section 681.003, Transportation
1-15 Code, is amended to read as follows:
1-16 (b) An application for a disabled parking placard must be:
1-17 (1) on a form furnished by the department; and
1-18 (2) submitted to the county assessor-collector of the
1-19 county in which the person with the disability resides[; and]
1-20 [(3) accompanied by a fee of $5].
1-21 SECTION 2. Section 681.005, Transportation Code, is amended
1-22 to read as follows:
1-23 Sec. 681.005. DUTY [DUTIES] OF COUNTY ASSESSOR-COLLECTOR.
1-24 Each county assessor-collector shall send a copy of each
1-25 application for a disabled parking placard to the department[:]
1-26 [(1) each fee collected under Section 681.003, to be
1-27 deposited in the state highway fund to defray the cost of providing
1-28 the disabled parking placard; and
1-29 ((2) a copy of each application for a disabled parking
1-30 placard].
1-31 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2001, and
1-32 applies only to applications for disabled parking placards
1-33 submitted to the Texas Department of Transportation on or after
1-34 that date. Applications filed before the effective date of this
1-35 Act are covered by the law in effect on the date the application
1-36 was submitted, and the former law is continued in effect for that
1-37 purpose.
