                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to a payment to a children's advocacy center by a
 1-3     defendant made as a condition of community supervision.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1. Section 11(g), Article 42.12, Code of Criminal
 1-6     Procedure, as added by Chapter 1415, Acts of the 76th Legislature,
 1-7     Regular Session, 1999, is amended to read as follows:
 1-8           (g)  A judge who grants community supervision to a person may
 1-9     require the person to make one payment in an amount not to exceed
1-10     $50 to a children's advocacy center established under Subchapter E,
1-11     Chapter 264, Family Code[, if the person is charged with or
1-12     convicted of an offense under Section 21.11 or 22.011(a)(2), Penal
1-13     Code].
1-14           SECTION 2. (a)  The change in law made by this Act applies
1-15     only to an offense committed on or after the effective date of this
1-16     Act.  For purposes of this section, an offense is committed before
1-17     the effective date of this Act if any element of the offense occurs
1-18     before that date.
1-19           (b)  An offense committed before the effective date of this
1-20     Act is covered by the law in effect when the offense was committed,
1-21     and the former law is continued in effect for that purpose.
1-22           SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
