 1-6                            A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-7                                   AN ACT
 1-8     relating to requiring disclaimers on certain advertisements that
 1-9     offer homestead designation services.
1-10           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-11           SECTION 1.  Subchapter A, Chapter 41, Property Code, is
1-12     amended by adding Section 41.0051 to read as follows:
1-13           Sec. 41.0051.  DISCLAIMER REQUIRED.  A person may not deliver
1-14     a written advertisement offering, for a fee, to designate property
1-15     as a homestead as provided by Section 41.005 unless there is a
1-16     disclaimer on the advertisement that is conspicuous and printed in
1-17     14-point boldface type or 14-point uppercase typewritten letters
1-18     that makes the following statement or a substantially similar
1-19     statement:
1-20          THIS DOCUMENT IS AN ADVERTISEMENT OF SERVICES.  IT IS NOT
1-21                 AN OFFICIAL DOCUMENT OF THE STATE OF TEXAS.
1-22           SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
