                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to inclusion of ports-of-entry in Texas Department of
 1-3     Transportation planning and funding.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1. Subchapter I, Chapter 201, Transportation Code, is
 1-6     amended by adding Section 201.710 to read as follows:
 1-7           Sec. 201.710.  PLANNING AND FUNDING OF PORTS-OF-ENTRY. (a)
 1-8     The department shall include projects relating to ports-of-entry in
 1-9     its transportation improvement plan and unified transportation
1-10     program or any successor to that plan or program.
1-11           (b)  In allocating money to projects the department shall
1-12     fund port-of-entry projects from money other than North American
1-13     Free Trade Agreement discretionary funds.
1-14           SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
