1-6 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
1-7 AN ACT
1-8 relating to reporting the academic performance of public high
1-9 school graduates in institutions of higher education.
1-10 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-11 SECTION 1. Subsection (a), Section 39.053, Education Code,
1-12 as amended by Chapters 510 and 1417, Acts of the 76th Legislature,
1-13 Regular Session, 1999, is reenacted and amended to read as follows:
1-14 (a) Each board of trustees shall publish an annual report
1-15 describing the educational performance of the district and of each
1-16 campus in the district that includes uniform student performance
1-17 and descriptive information as determined under rules adopted by
1-18 the commissioner. The annual report must also include:
1-19 (1) campus performance objectives established under
1-20 Section 11.253 and the progress of each campus toward those
1-21 objectives, which shall be available to the public;
1-22 (2) the performance rating for the district as
1-23 provided under Section 39.072(a) and the performance rating of each
1-24 campus in the district as provided under Section 39.072(c); [and]
1-25 (3) the district's current special education
1-26 compliance status with the agency;
1-27 (4) [. In addition, the annual report must include] a
1-28 statement of the number, rate, and type of violent or criminal
1-29 incidents that occurred on each district campus, to the extent
1-30 permitted under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of
1-31 1974 (20 U.S.C. Section 1232g);
1-32 (5) [,] information concerning school violence
1-33 prevention and violence intervention policies and procedures that
1-34 the district is using to protect students;
1-35 (6) [, and] the findings that result from evaluations
1-36 conducted under the Safe and Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act
1-37 of 1994 (20 U.S.C. Section 7101 et seq.) and its subsequent
1-38 amendments; and
1-39 (7) information received under Section 51.403(e) for
1-40 each high school campus in the district, presented in a form
1-41 determined by the commissioner.
1-42 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
