                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to requiring that the Texas Transportation Commission meet
 1-3     with transportation officials of bordering states of the United
 1-4     Mexican States to discuss transportation and infrastructure issues.
 1-5           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-6           SECTION 1.  Subchapter C, Chapter 201, Transportation Code,
 1-7     is amended by adding Section 201.114 to read as follows:
 1-8           Sec. 201.114.  CROSS-BORDER TRANSPORTATION AND INFRASTRUCTURE
 1-9     MEETINGS.  The commission shall initiate efforts to meet at least
1-10     semiannually with the commission's counterparts in those states of
1-11     the United Mexican States that border this state to discuss
1-12     transportation and infrastructure issues. To the extent
1-13     practicable, the commission shall meet at least semiannually with
1-14     its counterparts in those bordering states to discuss
1-15     transportation and infrastructure issues.
1-16           SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
