 1-8                            A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-9                                   AN ACT
1-10     relating to requiring that the Texas Transportation Commission meet
1-11     with transportation officials of bordering states of the United
1-12     Mexican States to discuss transportation and infrastructure issues.
1-13           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-14           SECTION 1.  Subchapter C, Chapter 201, Transportation Code,
1-15     is amended by adding Section 201.114 to read as follows:
1-16           Sec. 201.114.  CROSS-BORDER TRANSPORTATION AND INFRASTRUCTURE
1-17     MEETINGS.  The commission shall initiate efforts to meet at least
1-18     semiannually with the commission's counterparts in those states of
1-19     the United Mexican States that border this state to discuss
1-20     transportation and infrastructure issues. To the extent
1-21     practicable, the commission shall meet at least semiannually with
1-22     its counterparts in those bordering states to discuss
1-23     transportation and infrastructure issues.
1-24           SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
