                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to requiring the Texas Department of Health to prepare a
 1-3     request for information for storing and distributing vaccines.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1.  (a)  In this Act, "vaccines for children program"
 1-6     means the program operated by the Texas Department of Health under
 1-7     authority of 42 U.S.C. Section 1396s, as amended.
 1-8           (b)  The Texas Department of Health shall develop a request
 1-9     for information to obtain information from private entities to
1-10     determine whether a private entity could more effectively and
1-11     efficiently store and distribute the vaccinations used in the
1-12     vaccines for children program.
1-13           (c)  The Texas Department of Health shall develop and
1-14     distribute the request for information not later than January 1,
1-15     2002.
1-16           (d)  This Act expires September 1, 2002.
1-17           SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
