                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to applications and fees for underground injection well
 1-3     permits.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1.  Section 27.014, Water Code, is amended to read as
 1-6     follows:
 1-7           Sec. 27.014.  APPLICATIONS [APPLICATION FEE].  With each
 1-8     application for a disposal well permit, the commission shall
 1-9     collect a fee in the amount provided in and under the terms of
1-10     Section 5.235.  The application for a hazardous or nonhazardous
1-11     disposal well permit shall be processed in accordance with this
1-12     chapter [of $25] for the benefit of the state and the preservation
1-13     of its natural resources.
1-14           SECTION 2.  The changes in law made by this Act regarding the
1-15     decisions by the Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission
1-16     apply to all applications for injection wells pending on or
1-17     submitted on or after the effective date of this Act.
1-18           SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
1-19     a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
1-20     provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this
1-21     Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
1-22     Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
