                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to outreach activities under the Summer Food Service
 1-3     Program.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1.  Section 33.024, Human Resources Code, is amended
 1-6     by amending Subsection (m) and adding Subsection (n) to read as
 1-7     follows:
 1-8           (m)  The department shall prepare quarterly reports
 1-9     summarizing the department's progress in implementing the outreach
1-10     program required by Subsection (k) and file those reports with the
1-11     standing committees of the senate and house of representatives
1-12     having primary jurisdiction over health and human services.
1-13           (n)  The department shall administer a grant program designed
1-14     to encourage eligible organizations to serve as local sponsors or
1-15     meal preparation sites for the summer program by awarding a
1-16     financial supplement for each meal served from funds appropriated
1-17     or otherwise made available for that purpose.
1-18           SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
