Subchapter Z, Chapter 661, Government Code, is 1-12 amended by adding Sections 661.915 and 661.916 to read as follows: 1-13 Sec. 661.915. LEAVE FOR ORGAN OR BONE MARROW DONORS. (a) A 1-14 state employee is entitled to a leave of absence without a 1-15 deduction in salary for the time necessary to permit the employee 1-16 to serve as a bone-marrow or organ donor. 1-17 (b) The leave of absence provided by this section may not 1-18 exceed: 1-19 (1) five working days in a fiscal year to serve as a 1-20 bone-marrow donor; or 1-21 (2) 30 working days in a fiscal year to serve as an 1-22 organ donor. 1-23 Sec. 661.916. LEAVE FOR BLOOD DONATION. A state agency 1-24 shall allow each agency employee sufficient time off, without a 1-25 deduction in salary or accrued leave, to donate blood. An employee 1-26 may receive time off under this section not more than four times in 1-27 a fiscal year. 1-28 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2001. 1-29 * * * * *
