                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to the amount of hazardous duty pay for certain state
 1-3     employees.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1. Section 659.062(a), Government Code, is amended to
 1-6     read as follows:
 1-7           (a)  An eligible employee is entitled to hazardous duty pay
 1-8     of $25 [$7] a month for each year of service as an employee of this
 1-9     state in a position that requires the performance of hazardous
1-10     duty, not to exceed 30 years of such service.  Except as provided
1-11     by Subsection (c) or Section 659.063(b)(1), this hazardous duty pay
1-12     is instead of other hazardous duty or longevity pay.
1-13           SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
