                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to the match requirement for the receipt of state funds by
 1-3     certain organizations providing chemical dependency treatment
 1-4     services.
 1-5           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-6           SECTION 1.  Subsection (f), Section 461.014, Health and
 1-7     Safety Code, is amended to read as follows:
 1-8           (f)  An organization or other entity is not eligible for a
 1-9     grant of state funds from the commission unless the organization or
1-10     entity provides matching funds in either cash or in-kind
1-11     contributions equal to at least five percent of the total grant of
1-12     state funds from the commission.  The commission may waive that
1-13     requirement if the commission determines that the requirement may
1-14     jeopardize the provision of needed services.
1-15           SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
