 1-6                            A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-7                                   AN ACT
 1-8     relating to credit in the Teacher Retirement System of Texas for
 1-9     certain out-of-state service.
1-10           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-11           SECTION 1.  Subsection (f), Section 823.401, Government Code,
1-12     is amended to read as follows:
1-13           (f)  The amount of service credit a member may establish
1-14     under this section may not exceed the lesser of the number of years
1-15     of membership service credit the member has in the retirement
1-16     system for actual service in public schools or 15 [10] years.
1-17           SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
