1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to state liability for certain conduct of juvenile board
 1-3     members.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1.  Subchapter A, Chapter 152, Human Resources Code,
 1-6     is amended by adding Section 152.0013 to read as follows:
 1-7           Sec. 152.0013.  INDEMNIFICATION BY STATE.  The state shall
 1-8     indemnify a juvenile board member in the same manner and under the
 1-9     same conditions that it indemnifies an officer of a state agency
1-10     under Chapter 104, Civil Practice and Remedies Code.
1-11           SECTION 2.  The change in law made by this Act applies only
1-12     to a cause of action that accrues on or after the effective date of
1-13     this Act.  A cause of action that accrues before the effective date
1-14     of this Act is governed by the law in effect on the date the cause
1-15     of action accrued, and the former law is continued in effect for
1-16     that purpose.
1-17           SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
