                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to the training requirements for certain employees of
 1-3     nursing homes.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1. Section 242.037, Health and Safety Code, is
 1-6     amended by adding Subsection (i) to read as follows:
 1-7           (i)  The board shall adopt rules that require that nursing
 1-8     home employees who do not hold a license, certificate,
 1-9     registration, permit, or some other form of authorization under
1-10     Title 3, Occupations Code, have basic first aid and cardiopulmonary
1-11     resuscitation training.
1-12           SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
