No. 648 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 1-1 AN ACT 1-2 relating to the authority of the Automobile Theft Prevention 1-3 Authority to establish advisory committees. 1-4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: 1-5 SECTION 1. Article 4413(37), Revised Statutes, is amended by 1-6 adding Section 12 to read as follows: 1-7 Sec. 12. ADVISORY COMMITTEES. (a) The authority may 1-8 establish advisory committees to advise it on any matter under the 1-9 jurisdiction of the authority. 1-10 (b) Section 2110.008, Government Code, does not apply to an 1-11 advisory committee established under this section if the advisory 1-12 committee is: 1-13 (1) established for a specific and immediate need; and 1-14 (2) dissolved before the first anniversary of the date 1-15 the committee is created. 1-16 (c) A member of an advisory committee may not be compensated 1-17 by the authority for committee service but is entitled to 1-18 reimbursement for actual and necessary expenses incurred in the 1-19 performance of committee service. 1-20 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives 1-21 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as 1-22 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this 1-23 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this 1-24 Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
