1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to the creation of an additional county court at law in
 1-3     Guadalupe County.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1.  Section 25.0961, Government Code, is amended to
 1-6     read as follows:
 1-7           Sec. 25.0961.  GUADALUPE COUNTY.  (a)  Guadalupe County has
 1-8     the following [one] statutory county courts:
 1-9                 (1)  [court,] the County Court at Law of Guadalupe
1-10     County; and
1-11                 (2)  the County Court at Law No. 2 of Guadalupe County.
1-12           (b)  A county court at law in [The County Court at Law of]
1-13     Guadalupe County sits in Seguin.
1-14           SECTION 2.  Notwithstanding Section 25.0961, Government Code,
1-15     as amended by this Act, the County Court at Law No. 2 of Guadalupe
1-16     County is created January 1, 2003, or on an earlier date determined
1-17     by the commissioners court by an order entered in its minutes.
1-18           SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
1-19     a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
1-20     provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this
1-21     Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
1-22     Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
