1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to evaluating drug purchasing cooperatives.
 1-3           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-4           SECTION 1.  Chapter 108, Health and Safety Code, is amended
 1-5     by adding Section 108.0062 to read as follows:
 1-6           Sec. 108.0062.  DRUG PURCHASING COOPERATIVES.  (a)  The
 1-7     council shall develop criteria for evaluating drug purchasing
 1-8     cooperatives that purchase drugs on behalf of consumers and create
 1-9     an evaluation form for consumers to evaluate drug purchasing
1-10     cooperatives.
1-11           (b)  The council shall distribute the evaluation forms to the
1-12     department, local health departments, the Texas Department of
1-13     Insurance, and the consumer protection division of the office of
1-14     the attorney general.
1-15           (c)  The council shall compile the information from completed
1-16     evaluation forms and make the information available to the public.
1-17           SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
