                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to the authority of certain municipalities to dispose of
 1-3     airport property.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1.  Section 22.024, Transportation Code, is amended
 1-6     by adding Subsection (d) to read as follows:
 1-7           (d)  Notwithstanding Subsection (a), a municipality with a
 1-8     population of 1.6 million or more may dispose of property, or any
 1-9     interest in property, related to a former military installation or
1-10     air navigation facility in the manner and on the terms the
1-11     municipality considers to be in the best interest of the
1-12     municipality if such disposal is carried out as a part of a
1-13     targeted redevelopment of the real property together with
1-14     aerospace, aviation, or aircraft manufacturing firms or other
1-15     airport-related industrial parks or communities.
1-16           SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
