                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to the authority of certain municipalities to dispose of
 1-3     airport property.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1.  Section 22.024, Transportation Code, is amended
 1-6     by adding Subsection (d) to read as follows:
 1-7           (d)  Notwithstanding Subsection (a), a municipality with a
 1-8     population of 1.6 million or more may exchange, convey, sell,
 1-9     lease, or otherwise dispose of land or any interest in real
1-10     property related to a former military installation or air
1-11     navigation facility, if the exchange, conveyance, sale, lease, or
1-12     other disposal is carried out as a component of targeted
1-13     redevelopment of such real property together with aerospace,
1-14     aviation, or aircraft manufacturing firms of other airport-related
1-15     industrial parks or communities.
1-16           SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
