No. 939, in Subsection (a), SECTION 1 (page 1, 1-9 line 18), after the words "attract new military", by striking 1-10 "installations" and substituting "missions". 1-11 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 1-12 AN ACT 1-13 relating to certain studies of the Texas Strategic Military 1-14 Planning Commission. 1-15 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: 1-16 SECTION 1. (a) The Texas Strategic Military Planning 1-17 Commission shall conduct a study to determine how the state can 1-18 attract new military installations and retain existing military 1-19 installations. As part of the study, the commission shall: 1-20 (1) review practices used in other states to reduce 1-21 the costs associated with operating a military installation; 1-22 (2) determine whether those practices can be 1-23 implemented in Texas; and 1-24 (3) estimate the cost savings for the military that 1-25 would be generated by implementing those practices. 1-26 (b) Not later than December 1, 2002, the Texas Strategic 1-27 Military Planning Commission shall report the results of the study 1-28 and any recommendations to: 1-29 (1) the governor; 1-30 (2) the lieutenant governor; 1-31 (3) the speaker of the house of representatives; 1-32 (4) the chair of the committee of the Texas House of 1-33 Representatives that has primary jurisdiction of matters concerning 1-34 state, federal, and international relations; and 1-35 (5) the chair of the committee of the Texas Senate 1-36 that has primary jurisdiction of matters concerning veteran affairs 1-37 and military installations. 1-38 (c) This section expires September 1, 2003. 1-39 SECTION 2.
