                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to the creation of an additional judicial district in
 1-3     Parker County.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 24, Government Code, is
 1-6     amended by adding Section 24.542 to read as follows:
 1-7           Sec. 24.542.  397TH JUDICIAL DISTRICT (PARKER COUNTY).  The
 1-8     397th Judicial District is composed of Parker County.
 1-9           SECTION 2. Section 32.184(a), Government Code, is amended to
1-10     read as follows:
1-11           (a)  The Commissioners Court of Parker County may budget for
1-12     and pay the judges [judge] of the 43rd and 397th judicial districts
1-13     [Judicial District] an annual salary not to exceed $7,800 for
1-14     performing judicial and administrative services.
1-15           SECTION 3. Section 43.125, Government Code, is amended to
1-16     read as follows:
1-17           Sec. 43.125.  43RD JUDICIAL DISTRICT.  The voters of the 43rd
1-18     Judicial District elect a district attorney who represents the
1-19     state in all cases before the 43rd and 397th district courts.
1-20           SECTION 4. Section 152.1901(b), Human Resources Code, is
1-21     amended to read as follows:
1-22           (b)  The [district court] judge of the 43rd Judicial District
1-23     is the chairman of the board.
1-24           SECTION 5. The 397th Judicial District is created and this
 2-1     Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
