                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to salary supplements by a county or a municipality for
 1-3     child and adult protective services workers.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1.  Subchapter B, Chapter 40, Human Resources Code,
 1-6     is amended by adding Section 40.0321 to read as follows:
 1-7           Sec. 40.0321.  SALARY SUPPLEMENTATION BY COUNTY OR
 1-8     MUNICIPALITY.  (a)  A county or municipality may supplement, from
 1-9     its own funds, the salary of a department employee whose duties
1-10     include providing services as part of, or relating to, the
1-11     provision of child protective services and adult protective
1-12     services by the department.
1-13           (b)  A department employee who has worked in the same
1-14     position for the department in a different region is not eligible
1-15     for a salary supplement under Subsection (a) for a minimum of six
1-16     months after assuming the position in the new region.
1-17           (c)  Section 659.020, Government Code, does not apply to the
1-18     supplement authorized by this section.
1-19           SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
