                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to salary supplements by a county or a municipality for
 1-3     child protective services workers.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1.  Subchapter B, Chapter 40, Human Resources Code,
 1-6     is amended by adding Section 40.0321 to read as follows:
 1-7           Sec. 40.0321.  SALARY SUPPLEMENTATION BY COUNTY OR
 1-8     MUNICIPALITY.  A county or municipality may supplement, from its
 1-9     own funds, the salary of a department employee whose duties include
1-10     providing services as part of, or relating to, the provision of
1-11     child protective services by the department.  Section 659.020,
1-12     Government Code, does not apply to the supplement authorized by
1-13     this section.
1-14           SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
