                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to the designation of Loop 375 in El Paso County as the
 1-3     Cesar Chavez Border Highway.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1.  Subchapter B, Chapter 225, Transportation Code,
 1-6     is amended by adding Section 225.046 to read as follows:
 1-7           Sec. 225.046.  Cesar Chavez Border Highway.  (a)  Loop 375 in
 1-8     El Paso County is designated as the Cesar Chavez Border Highway.
 1-9           (b)  The department shall design and construct markers
1-10     indicating the highway number, the designation as the Cesar Chavez
1-11     Border Highway, and any other appropriate information.
1-12           (c)  The department shall erect a marker at each end of the
1-13     highway and at appropriate intermediate sites along the highway.
1-14           SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
1-15     a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
1-16     provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this
1-17     Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
1-18     Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
