A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
1-1 AN ACT
1-2 relating to the service areas of certain junior college districts.
1-3 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-4 SECTION 1. Sections 130.168 and 130.202, Education Code, are
1-5 amended to read as follows:
1-6 Sec. 130.168. BLINN COUNTY COLLEGE DISTRICT SERVICE AREA.
1-7 The service area of the Blinn College District includes the
1-8 territory within:
1-9 (1) Washington, Burleson, Brazos, Madison, Grimes,
1-10 Waller, Lee, and Fayette counties;
1-11 (2) the Mumford, Hearne, and Franklin independent
1-12 school districts located in Robertson County;
1-13 (3) the Bellville Independent School District located
1-14 in Austin County;
1-15 (4) the [Rockdale,] Milano[,] and Gause independent
1-16 school districts located in Milam County;
1-17 (5) the part of the Richards Independent School
1-18 District that is located in Walker and Montgomery counties; and
1-19 (6) the part of the Bryan Independent School District
1-20 that is located in Robertson County.
1-21 Sec. 130.202. TEMPLE JUNIOR COLLEGE DISTRICT SERVICE AREA.
1-22 The service area of the Temple Junior College District includes the
1-23 territory within:
1-24 (1) the Temple Independent School District;
2-1 (2) the municipality of Temple;
2-2 (3) the Academy, Bartlett, Belton, Holland, Rogers,
2-3 Troy, and Salado independent school districts located in Bell
2-4 County;
2-5 (4) the Buckholts, Cameron, Rockdale, and Thorndale
2-6 independent school districts located in Milam County;
2-7 (5) the Granger, Hutto, Taylor, and Thrall independent
2-8 school districts located in Williamson County;
2-9 (6) the part of the Rosebud-Lott Independent School
2-10 District that is located in Milam County; and
2-11 (7) the part of the Bartlett Independent School
2-12 District that is located in Milam County.
2-13 SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies
2-14 beginning with the 2001 fall semester, except that during the
2-15 2001-2002 academic year the Blinn College District may continue to
2-16 treat the area removed by this Act from the district's service area
2-17 as if the area were still in the district's service area, as
2-18 necessary, to avoid an unreasonable interruption of junior college
2-19 services in the area.
2-20 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2-21 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2-22 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2-23 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2-24 Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
