1-6 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
1-7 AN ACT
1-8 relating to the service areas of certain junior college districts.
1-9 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-10 SECTION 1. Sections 130.168 and 130.202, Education Code, are
1-11 amended to read as follows:
1-12 Sec. 130.168. BLINN COUNTY COLLEGE DISTRICT SERVICE AREA.
1-13 The service area of the Blinn College District includes the
1-14 territory within:
1-15 (1) Washington, Burleson, Brazos, Madison, Grimes,
1-16 Waller, Lee, and Fayette counties;
1-17 (2) the Mumford, Hearne, and Franklin independent
1-18 school districts located in Robertson County;
1-19 (3) the Bellville Independent School District located
1-20 in Austin County;
1-21 (4) the [Rockdale,] Milano[,] and Gause independent
1-22 school districts located in Milam County;
1-23 (5) the part of the Richards Independent School
1-24 District that is located in Walker and Montgomery counties; and
1-25 (6) the part of the Bryan Independent School District
1-26 that is located in Robertson County.
1-27 Sec. 130.202. TEMPLE JUNIOR COLLEGE DISTRICT SERVICE AREA.
1-28 The service area of the Temple Junior College District includes the
1-29 territory within:
1-30 (1) the Temple Independent School District;
1-31 (2) the municipality of Temple;
1-32 (3) the Academy, Bartlett, Belton, Holland, Rogers,
1-33 Troy, and Salado independent school districts located in Bell
1-34 County;
1-35 (4) the Buckholts, Cameron, Rockdale, and Thorndale
1-36 independent school districts located in Milam County;
1-37 (5) the Granger, Hutto, Taylor, and Thrall independent
1-38 school districts located in Williamson County;
1-39 (6) the part of the Rosebud-Lott Independent School
1-40 District that is located in Milam County; and
1-41 (7) the part of the Bartlett Independent School
1-42 District that is located in Milam County.
1-43 SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies
1-44 beginning with the 2001 fall semester, except that during the
1-45 2001-2002 academic year the Blinn College District may continue to
1-46 treat the area removed by this Act from the district's service area
1-47 as if the area were still in the district's service area, as
1-48 necessary, to avoid an unreasonable interruption of junior college
1-49 services in the area.
1-50 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
1-51 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
1-52 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
1-53 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
1-54 Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
