                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to the display of a motor home  at a show, exhibition, or
 1-3     rally in this state.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1. Section 503.003, Transportation Code, is amended
 1-6     to read as follows:
 1-7           Sec. 503.003.  DISPLAY OR SALE OF CERTAIN VEHICLES AND
 1-8     TRAILERS AT VEHICLE AND BOAT SHOWS [NONMOTORIZED VEHICLE OR
 1-9     TRAILER]. (a)  This chapter does not prohibit:
1-10                 (1)  the display or sale of a nonmotorized vehicle or
1-11     trailer at a regularly scheduled vehicle or boat show with multiple
1-12     vendors in accordance with commission rules; or
1-13                 (2)  the display of a motor home at a vehicle show,
1-14     exhibition, or rally with multiple vendors in accordance with
1-15     commission rules.
1-16           (b)  Subsection (a)(2) does not authorize the sale of a motor
1-17     home at the show, exhibition, or rally by a person who does not
1-18     hold a general distinguishing number.
1-19           (c)  In this section, "motor home" has the meaning assigned
1-20     by Section 1.03, Texas Motor Vehicle Commission Code (Article
1-21     4413(36), Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes).
1-22           SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
1-23     a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
1-24     provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this
 2-1     Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
 2-2     Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
