No. 1109 77R9008 JAT-F A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 1-1 AN ACT 1-2 relating to the use of the Galveston-Port Bolivar ferry operated by 1-3 the Texas Department of Transportation. 1-4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: 1-5 SECTION 1. Chapter 342, Transportation Code, is amended by 1-6 adding Subchapter G to read as follows: 1-7 SUBCHAPTER G. GALVESTON-PORT BOLIVAR FERRY 1-8 Sec. 342.501. FERRY VEHICLE STICKER. (a) A resident or 1-9 homeowner of the Bolivar Peninsula may apply to the department for 1-10 a sticker for a motor vehicle owned by the applicant that entitles 1-11 the vehicle to have priority in boarding the Galveston-Port Bolivar 1-12 ferry operated by the department. 1-13 (b) The department shall: 1-14 (1) design the sticker; and 1-15 (2) designate the place where a sticker must be 1-16 affixed to the windshield of the motor vehicle for which it is 1-17 issued. 1-18 (c) An applicant must provide sufficient proof, as 1-19 determined by the department, that the applicant: 1-20 (1) is a resident or homeowner of Bolivar Peninsula; 1-21 and 1-22 (2) owns or is renting or leasing the motor vehicle 1-23 for which the sticker is to be issued. 1-24 Sec. 342.502. FEE. (a) The annual fee for a ferry vehicle 2-1 sticker under this subchapter is $30. 2-2 (b) Of each fee collected under this section, the department 2-3 shall: 2-4 (1) deposit $17.50 in the state highway fund, $5 of 2-5 which shall be used to defray the cost of administering this 2-6 subchapter; and 2-7 (2) give $12.50 to the comptroller for deposit in the 2-8 parks and wildlife operating account. 2-9 Sec. 342.503. RULES AND FORMS. (a) The department may 2-10 adopt rules to administer this subchapter. 2-11 (b) The department shall prescribe forms necessary for the 2-12 administration of this subchapter. 2-13 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
