By: Brown S.B. No. 1131 2001S0617/2 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 1-1 AN ACT 1-2 relating to the compensation and limitations on a private law 1-3 practice of the state prosecuting attorney. 1-4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: 1-5 SECTION 1. Section 42.001, Government Code, is amended by 1-6 adding Subsections (c) and (d) to read as follows: 1-7 (c) The state prosecuting attorney is entitled to receive 1-8 compensation from the state equal to the compensation that is 1-9 provided for a district judge in the General Appropriations Act. 1-10 (d) The state prosecuting attorney may not engage in the 1-11 private practice of law but may complete all civil cases that are 1-12 not in conflict with the interest of the state or any of its 1-13 counties that are pending in court before the state prosecuting 1-14 attorney takes office. 1-15 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
