By Ogden S.B. No. 1132 77R8583 GJH-D A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 1-1 AN ACT 1-2 relating to the retirement benefits of certain law enforcement and 1-3 custodial officers in the Employees Retirement System of Texas. 1-4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: 1-5 SECTION 1. Section 814.107(b), Government Code, is amended to 1-6 read as follows: 1-7 (b) The standard service retirement annuity payable for at 1-8 least 20 years of service credit as a law enforcement or custodial 1-9 officer is an amount computed on the basis of the member's average 1-10 monthly compensation for that service for the 36 highest months of 1-11 compensation, times the sum of the percentage factor used in the 1-12 computation of a standard service retirement annuity under Section 1-13 814.105 plus: 1-14 (1) .5 percent if less than 30 years of service credit 1-15 as a law enforcement or custodial officer; or 1-16 (2) .75 percent if 30 years or more of service credit 1-17 as a law enforcement or custodial officer. 1-18 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
