1-6 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
1-7 AN ACT
1-8 relating to the appearance of a driver's license issued to a person
1-9 who is under 21 years of age.
1-10 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-11 SECTION 1. Subsection (a), Section 521.121, Transportation
1-12 Code, is amended to read as follows:
1-13 (a) The driver's license must include:
1-14 (1) a distinguishing number assigned by the department
1-15 to the license holder;
1-16 (2) a color photograph of[:]
1-17 [(A)] the entire face of the holder; [or]
1-18 [(B) the profile of the holder if the license is
1-19 a provisional license;]
1-20 (3) the full name, date of birth, and residence
1-21 address of the holder; and
1-22 (4) a brief description of the holder.
1-23 SECTION 2. Section 521.123, Transportation Code, is amended
1-24 to read as follows:
1-25 Sec. 521.123. DESIGNATOR ON LICENSE ISSUED TO PERSON UNDER
1-26 21 YEARS OF AGE. The department shall:
1-27 (1) designate and clearly mark as a provisional
1-28 license each original driver's license issued by the department to
1-29 a person who is under 18 years of age; and
1-30 (2) for [indicate "UNDER 21" on the face of] each
1-31 original, renewed, or duplicate license issued to a person who is
1-32 under 21 years of age:
1-33 (A) indicate "UNDER 21" on the face of the
1-34 license; and
1-35 (B) orient the information on the license to
1-36 clearly distinguish the license from a license that is issued to a
1-37 person who is 21 years of age or older.
1-38 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
