 1-6                            A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-7                                   AN ACT
 1-8     relating to the scope of practice of a physician assistant acting
 1-9     in a delegated practice.
1-10           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-11           SECTION 1.  Section 204.202, Occupations Code, is amended by
1-12     adding Subsection (e) to read as follows:
1-13           (e)  A physician assistant is the agent of the physician
1-14     assistant's supervising physician for any medical services that are
1-15     delegated by that physician and that:
1-16                 (1)  are within the physician assistant's scope of
1-17     practice; and
1-18                 (2)  are delineated by protocols, practice guidelines,
1-19     or practice directives established by the supervising physician.
1-20           SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
